Today's Games
provoblades | 10 November, 2007 21:54
For anyone that wasn't at today's games they were both AWESOME! We lost this morning but it was a great learning game against the Park City Predators. Amber and Jasmine played their very first games ever and both did amazing. I think the final score was 5-1 but Jenny can confirm that when she updates the stats ;)
The evening game was against the Black Diamonds which is always a fun game. We won 5-2 and every single player played their best game ever I think. Again, I'll let Jenny give you the full report and rave about the amazing defenseman who got a hat trick. Hehe.
Just wanted to let everyone know what happened. See you all on Wednesday!

The news and upcoming events pages have been updated. Please check them out.
Congratulations Sarah!
provoblades | 08 November, 2007 01:36
For anyone who missed the big announcement in the locker room today ... Sarah is pregnant!!!!!! Good news for her, bad news for us ;) She is six weeks along and is planning to keep playing for a little while at least. Another Blades Mommy in the making. This is the fun of being on a women's team :)
Jenny's Awesome
jodimoore | 01 November, 2007 21:04
Make sure to check out the game reports that Jenny is writing for the tournament games. They are really cute and funny. She is also going to be keeping the stats updated, so check back soon for those. I think we will see who the resident goon of the team is ... *ahem* Deanna *ahem*
Also, if you have pictures from the tourney, send them my way. So far I have only received stuff from Tiffany. I am hoping to do a bunch of updates on Sunday so try to get them to me by then.
We are the champions!
provoblades | 29 October, 2007 19:11
We took first place in the upper division of the "Stick or Treat" tournament held in Eagle, Colorado last weekend. We played fantastic winning three out of four games. Everyone had a lot of fun and we really developed as a team as we practiced our new systems we have been learning. Jenny will be posting the detailed reports and stats so watch for those over the next few days.
Stats and Game Reports

Okeydoke, ladies-- the first of the game reports and statistics is up and running. Let me know if you see any glaring errors. I'm going to try and keep everything up to date and correct. Good game Saturday!
Important Information about Wednesday's practice
provoblades | 07 October, 2007 23:21
If you haven't noticed on the calendar, we have a lot of stuff going on this Wednesday at practice. Please show up at 8:15 pm or even a bit earlier if you can. Here are the things that are going on:
1. We will be looking at samples of warm-ups and trying on different sizes to see what we want to order.
2. We will be having chalk-talk from 8:30-9:15. If you haven't been to a chalk talk yet, you are missing out. We are learning great stuff that is really going to help in our games. Please make every effort to attend.
3. We will be voting on captains after practice so be thinking about who on the team would make good leaders. Each player will vote for 3 people and the top 3 will be captains with Kevin having discretion to name the C.
And please please please get your October payments in asap. The late fee will be added Wednesday night after practice.
Fundraising Solution
provoblades | 04 October, 2007 19:33
Teresa and I have been brainstorming and have come up with a good solution for selling the cookie dough. Since everyone seemed concerned with trying to meet the minimum order of 300+ we have decided to go ahead and commit to paying a $150 fee which will remove the minimum order requirement. What this means for the team is that November fees will be $8.00 more per player which will cover that fee. If each player sells (or buys) just TWO tubs of cookie dough they will recoup that $8.00 fee. Then anything they sell over that will be profit towards November's team fees.
Teresa has the brochures and will bring them Saturday so we can start this immediately. All orders will be due at practice on October 24th and cookie dough will arrive approximately 2 weeks after that. We felt that if everyone chipped in $8.00 it would provide a great opportunity for the girls who desperately need/want to find a way to help pay for their hockey. If you choose not to sell any then the $8.00 is kind of a team donation to help other girls on the team be able to play.
We felt like this was fair for everyone and would enable us to sell as little or as much as we want without having to panic about hitting a certain target. If you have any issues with this, please let me or Teresa know. Otherwise we will plan to go ahead with it starting on Saturday.
As a side note, Teresa has worked really hard at finding some good opportunities for us to fundraise this year so when she talks about this on Saturday please be respectful of her and give her your full attention. That will be necessary for us to suceed with this. Thanks everyone. You're the best!
October Team Fees Due on the 10th
provoblades | 04 October, 2007 15:21
I have put up the payment information for October on our
team fees page. Please get that in as soon as possible, but the date it will be considered due is October 10th. ($5.00 late charge after that). Any players who haven't paid October will not be able to play in the games.
If you are going to Eagle but didn't sign up as a tournament player, you can pay the fee for Eagle now as well.
If you want to pay all of your fees up front and receive a discount there is an option for that as well.
Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for being so good about getting payments in. Everyone has been really good about it so far this year and I really appreciate it. It helps us to be able to pay our bills on time and book the right amount of ice for our needs. You guys are the best!
Defensive Zone Coverage
provoblades | 03 October, 2007 13:17
We had a chalk talk after Saturday's practice and we discussed what we are supposed to do in our defensive zone. Each position has three main responsibilities. I have outlined these with some diagrams and descriptions with one page for each position. Please view it and/or print it if possible before practice tonight. I will try to bring a few copies too. Tonight we will be going over how our defensive zone coverage will transition into a break-out. So it is important to have this down. Here is the link to the document. Post a comment if you have any questions.

Chalk Talk on Wednesday
provoblades | 01 October, 2007 22:02
We will be having a Chalk Talk before practice this Wednesday. Please make every effort to attend. Our coaches all put in a lot of team and energy to provide us with a good program and we need to make sure to take advantage of this.
In this Chalk Talk we will be learning things that will be necessary for every player to know in games. It will also be covering things that we will be working on in practice that night. It will definitely be worth it to be there.
See everyone on Wednesday!
